This collection spans 1970 to 1997 and features previously
unissued recordings, including three songs featuring Linda Peters, a
re-working of one of the songs from the first album, the B-side of the 1971
single, and one brand new song.
The CD is also available in Japan, released by Belle Antique of Shinjuku, Tokyo (MAR 98446). The CD is the American product, but an additional booklet, with information and song lyrics in Japanese, is included. |
| Morocco | Written by Lyndon in 1971 after the group had been
booked for a week’s residency at a holiday village near Asilah, south of
Tangier. They must have used some very strange herbs in the dishes on the
village menu! Lead Vocal: Linda. Guitars: John & Lyndon. |
| It’s Going To Take Some Time | The second of three tracks recorded with Linda. This Carol King song is one
which she added to our repertoire. Lead Vocal: Linda. Guitars: John & Lyndon. Bass: Amin. Drums: Graham Stott. |
| Look At Me | Not so much a complete picture as a mass of little bits of
what was going through John’s head at the time. How long does it take to
grow up? Lead Vocal: Linda. Guitars: John & Lyndon. Bass: Amin. Drums: Graham Stott. |
| It All Comes Back To Me | Lynne and John revisit this song from the 1971 album, this time without the
help of members from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Guitars: John & Lynne. Bass: John. |
| Home To Stay | We thought we should have a brand new Tudor Lodge song on the CD. Within
two days Lynne had written this song about a person so wrapped up in a fantasy
love, she completely loses touch with reality — most profound!! Within a
week it was arranged and recorded. Guitars: John & Lynne. Bass: John |
| Golden Thread | The first of five songs written and arranged by John, engineered by Mike
Clements at TPA Studio, London and performed by John, with Tudor Lodge and
other friends. This is a slightly confused love/not love song. Acoustic guitars: John & Lyndon. Electric guitar: Jo Partridge. Bass: Amin. Drums: Graham Stott. Backing vocals: Tudor Lodge + friends. |
| Ain’t Always Easy | A bit of fun — with some excellent electric guitar work by Jo
Partridge. Acoustic guitars: John & Lyndon. Electric guitar: Jo Partridge. Bass: Amin. Drums: Graham Stott. Backing vocals: Tudor Lodge + friends. |
| Sparkle In Your Eye | A song of escape, again with tasteful electric guitar additions fom Jo. The
ending was inspired by some tomfoolery during a gig at the Crypt, St. Martins
in the Field, Trafalgar Square, London — wonderful acoustics! Acoustic guitars: John & Lyndon. Electric guitar: Jo Partridge. Bass: Amin. Drums: Graham Stott. Backing vocals: Tudor Lodge + friends. |
| It’s Cold Outside | Jo’s mandolin introduces this song of hope. Sometimes love can be
rekindled... Acoustic guitars: John & Lyndon. Electric guitar: Jo Partridge. Bass: Amin. Drums: Graham Stott. Backing vocals: Tudor Lodge + friends. |
| One More Drink | John wrote this song when the original group (John, Lyndon & Annie)
reformed in 1980 and it was captured on tape at a reunion gig in High Wycombe,
England. The recording was too poor to use so John, Lynne and Lyndon recreated
it for this CD. Recording was done at John Mitchell’s Outhouse Studio,
Reading, England. Guitars: John & Lyndon. Bass: John. |
| Sundown Waker | Written by John Vaughan, an American singer/songwriter who Lyndon worked
with in Berlin during 1972. This was also recorded at the 1980 reunion gig. We
used that recording but had to re-record much of it. Annie’s voice and
flute are from 1980, the bass is new and the guitars and voices are a blend of
old and new. Guitars: John & Lyndon. Flute: Annie |
| We Are Today | The last song from the TPA Studio session. This time, John passes the lead
vocal over to Mike Silver, a
long-time friend and writer/performer of many excellent songs, one of which,
“Maybe It’s Just Love,” features on Let’s Talk. Acoustic guitars: John & Lyndon. Electric guitar: Jo Partridge. Bass: Amin. Drums: Graham Stott. Backing vocals: Tudor Lodge + friends. |
| Kew Gardens | Annie found this old recording made at Windsor Folk Club, probably in 1971.
The quality is not so good but the tape reminded us of some of the songs we had
forgotten about completely. This was usually our last song of the evening and
also closed the 1971 album. Guitars: John & Lyndon. |
| The Good Times We Had | Recorded during the 1971 album sessions, this song was excluded from the
album but was used as the B-side of the single. Rumour had it that the record
company execs preferred it to the A-side. Guitars: John & Lyndon. Flute: Annie. Bass: Danny Thompson. Drums: Terry Cox. |
