Basic practice for picking technique
by Acousphere Toshi

Hi! I am Acousphere Toshi.
Most of you must need picking technique.
And it takes long time to get used to use it.
Here I introduce the way to control picks better.
Let's try!!

Make your right hand stable !
You need stable right hand to play stable picking.
To make your right hand stable, let's start with this single note picking practice.

(1) Hold your pick and place your right hand to the guitar without touching strings.

(2) Touch the 6th string with the pick, and place your little finger on the guitar in the 1st string side of the body top.
This placement of the little finger makes the stable right hand form.

(3) Staying your little finger touching the same place, move the pick slowly to the 1st string.
It is like shrinking your hand.
This "6th to 1st string movement" is the basic movement of the pick!

After you get used to the movement, practice to play every single strings.
This practice helps you to feel what string you play clearly.

Check the movie!
I introduce the exercise for this picking here.
Play twice on every single strings, 6th to 1st.
It may sound difficult for the fast tempo, so try it from much slower tempo.
It is very important to be conscious of what string you play!

Stable right hand makes stable performance!
In fact, we have many kinds of right hand forms.
It depends on what kind of play style we have.
Some may need a specific type of the form and may not need others.
But we should understand we need stable right hand, anyway, for every kinds of forms.
After you master the basic form you learned here, you can easily play other kinds of forms.
And, best of all, you can do better performances.
Hang on practicing it over and over again, and be a better guitarist!!
