http://www.suelab.nuem.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~suematsu/karafro.html　		 「記里鼓車」をどれだけの人が知っているのであろうか。そう思ってウエブサイトの検索を行ったところ、多くのサイトに遭遇した。少なくとも日本ではかなり関心が高いというべきであろう。「記里鼓車」とはどんなものであろうか。その姿は山車のような二輪車だ。天子の鹵簿（公式の行軍）の一行がその行進した距離を正確に測定する距離計が備えられている。それはよく知られた「指南車」と一対になった道具だてになっていて、鹵簿の一行が二台の馬車をその行列に加えることによって、どの方角にどれだけの距離を移動したかが正確に計測される仕組みになっている。この装置が我々にもたらす驚きは記里鼓車はともかく指南車が歯車だけで出来ていたというところにある。

　記里鼓車の構造がどのようなものかは数多くのサイトが説明してくれているので、図版入りのものからご紹介しておきましょう。まず末松良一(Yoshikazu.Suematsu)さんのサイトから「中国の学者王振鐸の指南車復元図面」かなり正確な推測図を見ることが出来る。「この図面は復元指南車の図面で、北京の天安門広場横の中国歴史博物館に展示されている指南車も，この図面に基づいている．」との説明がある。石田正治（ISHIDA Shoji)さんの「文化祭での取り組み－指南車、記里鼓車の復元模型製作－」のサイトから「愛知県立豊橋工業高等学校、定時制機械科３年、生徒８名、文化祭のために『指南車』２台、『記里鼓車』１台を製作。（指導：石田正治）」はなかなかの力作。
