Very uncommon names:

Dixit, Kannasto, and Thirkell -- not shown in list of 88,799 names. This survey was done with a sample of approximately 1/40 of the U.S. population. This affects the ranking of the less common surnames in particular -- groupings of people with less common surnames could occur either within or outside of the sample used in the survey. According to the census website, "The fact that a name doesn't appear in these files does not mean that it is non existent, only that it is reasonably rare." Apparently, there were no Dixits, Kannastos or Thirkells within the sample population of 6.3 million people.
