Mum, about age 25.
Nathuram Yagdutt Sharma, his wife Pushpawati (who we call Biji), and the elder seven of their nine children, in Kenya, about 1943. A family servant is holding daughter Savitri. After this photo was taken, Nathuram Sharma took his wife and all but their eldest two children to India for two years, hoping to get over some heart problems he was having. They returned to Kenya, but he died of a heart attack about six months later (about three years after this photo was taken). My husband's mother is on the left. The home of Dr. R. D. Sharma (Dr. Ram Bhaj Dutt Dixit), my husband's grandfather, in the valley below the town of Simla, India. Photo by website author, Dec. 1992. The hill town of Simla (Shimla), Himachal Pradesh, India, in December, 1992. Photo by website author. The town sits atop a ridge, with spectacular views on either side.
