Nakamura new hybrid "KABUKI"

CLIVIAN

@@@@

I named this flower "KABUKI" because it reminds me of the unique makeup of KABUKI (traditional Japanese entertainment) performers.

Mr. Nakamura tried clivia breeding by using cobalt 60 more than 10 years ago. As the result of his trial, he has created "CHIBA-SAKURA" (this hybrid was described as "CHIBAZAKURA" in the Clivia Yearbook 3), and "CHIBA-SAKURA" shows unique flower color because of the influence by cobalt 60. I guess that "KABUKI" was also created using cobalt 60, but "KABUKI" shows unique flower shapes as well as its unique color combination.

In fact, Mr. Nakamura does not know how this "KABUKI" was bred and what was its parentage. There are lots of interesting hybrids like "KABUKI" in his green house, and he cannot necessarily remember how they were bred.

Someone might think that this flower is just a malformed flower, but I think the most important thing is that this flower is very impressive.

This flower has irregular shaped, folded and slit petals. I think these points are of interest as genetic factors. It is possible to breed interesting hybrids if "KABUKI" is crossed with yellow miniata or interspecific hybrids.
