Third Tsuchiura Group, Ibaraki, Japan

We are Third Tsuchiura Group, Fifth District, Ibaraki Scout Council, Scout Association of Japan.  Have you enjoyed our photo page?  We take advantage of Ibaraki's terrain (Mt. Tsukuba, Sakura River, and Lake Kasumigaura), and Tsukuba Science City facilities.

Basic information about scout activities in Japan is at Scout Association of Japan's English page

If you are a parent of a child who wishes to join SAJ activities, it will be a good start to send an e-mail to SAJ's international coordinator.  There are some groups in Tokyo whose primary language is English; it is advised to check with their current status.

If your kid would like to see Tsuchiura/Tsukuba local scouting, there is a good chance we can arrange your visit.  The youngest Beaver (6-8 years old) may be the easiest, as parent attendance to the site is required and Beaver age often does not need verbal communication!  Cub (8-11y) might not be so easy.  They follow their own chain-of-command during outdoor activities.  Scout (11-14y) case depends so much on circumstances.  We do not have many dates for Venture at present.  We are to revitalize Rover(18-24y).

Does your kid want to join us?  If your kid and a person at home speaks Japanese, both boys and girls are welcome!  If neither the would-be-scout or a home point-of-contact does not speak Japanese, please send an e-mail to the Group representative .  For your info, we collaterally have Girl Scouts at Tsuchiura, too.  Although we occasionally have joint events, our structures are separate.

Yours in Scouting.
